1. Can you share the story behind Lit Up Brand with us? What does it mean for you to have an amazing brand that is truly lit up?
I owned a showroom, eM Productions, for 20 + years in L. A and N.Y. Through years of working with fashion lines, I realized how important their story was and their unique voice and authentic lifestyle. It is so important to stand out and be lit up about what you do. This brought me to begin Lit Up Brand in 2019, which is a consulting agency to help create a brand or rebrand one. To have a brand that is fully lit up: it means aligning one’s true core values and mission to your Company, from your product to the team you hire.
2. With Lit Up Brand, you have helped to build numerous brands in fashion and beyond. What does it speak about your journey and values?
I value seeing growth and a clear, empowered mindset. I value an entrepreneur who has the commitment to do what they are doing and the persistence and resilience to keep going through all the challenges. It takes more than an idea to be sustainable and last. It takes a strong mindset, vision, and execution.
3. Your courses at Lit Up Brand emphasize mission, purpose, and values. How is this attributed to long-term success when it comes to brand creation?
It is so important to have a clear mission statement from the beginning. I even go further to have a 3-word blurb that describes your company. Having values that align with your purpose is key, as this will allow you to create your company with integrity.
4. What sets Lit Up Brand apart from other brand-creating platforms? What are the mistakes that should be avoided while building a brand?
Lit Up Brand is unique as it begins with your unique stamp and story in the world. There is so much competition, and it is important to begin with a foundation of a strong mindset and core values. Once the foundation is set then one can move into the goals and sales, marketing, and financial strategies. We focus on authenticity so that one can go beyond the surface of the product and truly relate to who they are, the lifestyle they love, and combine this with their customer who aligns with this.
5. Can you share one of your success stories with us? The one that lit you up from within.
I am currently consulting for a showroom in N.Y. They have been around for over 10 years. The owner had a retail store and used to buy from our showroom. She contacted me recently to consult for her showroom as she was burnt out and not enjoying the business any longer. She needed a new perspective. We worked on rebranding her showroom and worked first on what was missing: what was burning her out was that she was doing everything and did not feel she had the right team. I asked her what she wanted to be doing. She explained that she wanted to not run everything and focus more on working with the brands, merchandising, and the vision of her showroom/brand.
We worked together to build up what lit her up from the beginning, and focused first on building the right team that was strong with sales and could focus on this. After a few tries, she got the right team. We then looked at her financials and saw that not all was being collected on. I put together a strategic business plan for her on brands, sales, marketing, and financials. She felt super enthusiastic about her business again, and her mindset changed from hopeless to excited. To see the growth in a company is what excites me.
6. What is lined up for Lit Up Brand next? Do you have collaborations, programs, and tools on the horizon
Lit Up Brand is looking to align with Universities for its course, as it is a unique entrepreneurial course that goes beyond what one is taught in school. We are also planning a podcast in collaboration with Womenkind, telling the struggle to dream stories of women entrepreneurs. The focus is to empower and inspire people to build their vision and business and sustain through challenges with a mindset and tools we teach.
