Bio: Courtney Mcka has been a stylist for almost seventeen years, and it would be right to say, she loves her job. She believes doing what you love makes a huge difference. When you love something, you put more time and energy into it. You look forward to showing up and expanding your craft. At least, she does. She only hopes that she can inspire someone to help others grow by reading this. Courtney didn't start out wanting to own a salon, it wasn't always her dream. In fact; quite the opposite. she was enrolled at Northwest Florida State College working on her bachelor's when she got approached with the opportunity. She was so intrigued and terrified at the same time. She decided she wasn't going to let fear debilitate her. Long story short, she gave it her all for six years now and have grown in knowledge tremendously. She is very blessed to have a successful growing business.
She is so thankful she didn't let her fear stop me because she truly feels she is living out a dream. She loves being behind the chair and making someone feel beautiful, it is so rewarding. Getting to know your clients and becoming close to them is such an awesome opportunity. Not many people get to say they truly connect with their clients, or as she like to say, her guest. As the owner, teaching has become one of her favorite jobs to do. Knowing that she has a helping hand in seeing others prosper is very rewarding. She didn't think she would be good at it (again that fear creeping in); and it was not a passion of mine. More recently, she has truly grown to love this side of ownership and now it is her personal goal to teach others. She loves seeing the passion fresh talent creates in stylists. Throughout her career, she has worked in some cutthroat environments, and it has always been her mission to create a peaceful salon-family atmosphere.
She says, “I believe there is enough to go around, and everyone can be successful. One of my favorite quotes is, "kind people are my kind of people." I try to practice this in my life daily. To remember, when I get frustrated that I never know what the other person is going through. Almost three years ago, I was lucky enough to adopt my daughter. It has been one of the most life-changing moments that could've happened to me. Suddenly, I had a two-year-old. She is now almost five, and I am so blessed to be her mom. I couldn't imagine my life any other way. In my personal time I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors and staying active. I am a huge self-help and entrepreneur book junkie. My personal goal would be to grow more stylists and share my knowledge, to continue my education in this industry and always enjoy coming to work.”
