Bio: A woman on a wild adventure. Michaela is a British lover of Africa, its people and all things wildlife. Dreaming of sunnier shores since she was a young girl and working in the travel industry since the age of 18, Michaela spent over a decade putting together and managing life changing volunteer projects within indigenous communities all over the globe.

Having travelled the world over and after falling in love with Tanzania on safari under the glow of an African Super Moon, the call of the wild took over. She gave up her job, her home, sold all of her belongings and packed herself off to Africa with just $500 in her pocket and a dream. Its taken a lot of hard work, dedication and heart to get to where she is today. For 2 years Michaela and her husband slept like hopeful angels under a mosquito net on a matress on the floor within the city of Arusha, Tanzania. They borrowed food from the shops and paid them back when they could and collected rain water to boil and drink – while they devoted their time and every coin that they had to building their incredible family company on more love than you can imagine and shes so glad they never gave up.

Michaela is the co-founder of Luna Safari, alongside her now husband and business partner Khalfani – a local Tanzanian with more passion for his country that you could ever imagine. Winners of Best African Safari Company 2022, Best Family Run Safari Company 2022 and Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Award Winners, Michaela and her family, now based in Tanzania deliver something truly unique.

A beautiful family-run company that lovingly deliver a max of 10 bespoke safari adventures per month – a chance to ride in to the wild with these guys is limited. Ensuring the flame always stays lit on the exceptionally high level of personal service and care they’re famous for. A truly exceptional family safari company originating from very humble beginnings and now offering Signature luxury safari and beach holidays delivered by the best of the best.

Alongside Luna Safari, Michaela also co-founded the Luna Foundation in which a percentage of the cost of every dream holiday with the company goes directly towards supporting children and families from some of the poorest backgrounds across Tanzania. A woman with more tenacity, determination and grit than most people expected, what she’s achieved so far over the last 5 years is nothing short of inspirational. Luna Safari is predicted to be the number one most exclusive and truly special safari company in Africa over the coming years, making Michaela more than deserving and worthy of being listed as one of The Entrepreneurs Herald’s 40 under 40 Entrepreneurs to watch For 2023.
