Her newest endeavor is an orphanage and special needs school in Malawi.

Jacqueline Ngo 

After 13 years in the animation industry, Jacqueline switched gears and bought a café in Fullerton and decided to be her own boss.  She named the café after her amazing kids, Lily and Leo’s Boutique Café. According to Jacqueline, Creating this business, being her own boss, and having the means to provide a positive service to others is probably the biggest achievement that she had done that would have a great impact on her children. She says, “ My son, Leo, has a super rare chromosome disorder called Tetrasomy 18p, so his life will be more challenging and this café will allow me to continue to take care of him after I am gone.” 

She hopes to bring more awareness to Chromosome 18 disorders and give back to the community!  She also wants to show her children that you can do anything is possible as long as you work hard and don't give up.

Sulhin Nakarit Aguirre

Emi Kubota is the founder & president of KidCycle Club: using the bicycle as a vehicle to power confidence and connection in kids aged 12 months old to 12 years old. Currently based in the mountain biking capital of the East Coast of the United States, Asheville, North Carolina, KidCycle Club has plans to expand throughout the Southeast and beyond.

Longtime snow and dirt sports lover, Kubota found that while there is major infrastructure in place to teach kids snow sports, such as skiing and snowboarding, there is very little infrastructure to teach kids dirt sports, such as mountain biking. Mentwab Easwaran (Mentu)

Mentwab Easwaran (Mentu) is the founder and creator of Coobaya, an online goods and apparel shop. One day, while looking at the generic, dull coffee cups in her cupboard, inspiration struck, and Mentu decided to create a collection of her own mugs. Her goal was to design something that evoked joy and happiness as well as peace and calm. She wanted the blissful feeling of Zen while drinking her morning joe.  

True to her narrative style, Mentu wanted the mugs to tell a story, so as she finished them she wrote down the meaning behind each design. When friends saw the sample mugs, they loved them so much that they purchased every one. Word spread and soon Mentu was receiving dozens of orders, which prompted her to officially launch Coobaya. She named the shop in her native language, Amharic — it means “cup” or “mug.” 

Since launching Coobaya, Mentu has expanded her designs into apparel and commissions for both private collections and corporate spaces. She has also been featured at festivals and shows in the DC-area and been invited to speak about her art. In 2021, Coobaya won the Award for Excellence in Visual Arts at the 36th annual Mayor’s Arts Awards, in recognition of the significant contributions the shop has made to Visual Arts in the District of Columbia.

Victoria Farrell 

Victoria Farrell is the co-founder and creator of Lady Dragonfly Apothecary, a healing crystal candle company.

For many years Victoria struggled with anxiety and depression. During her mental health journey, she looked for a creative way to heal herself. It was after a candle-making class that she began crafting candles with crystals that helped her feel better. Victoria started gifting her new creations to friends and co-workers, who soon asked her where they could buy more of them.
